My Coaching Style

May 24, 2017

My Coaching Approach

My coaching approach can best be described as a results orientated approach that is based upon the Relational Life Therapy model (created by Terry Real) and the Parent Coaching Institute model, which relies heavily on the Appreciative Inquiry model.  I use a therapeutic coaching style that is aimed at helping individuals, couples and parents in recognizing relational patterns that may have adopted from their family of origin and are now reliving in their day to day relationships. While I work with individuals, couple and parents to recognize and change patterns that have not worked for them, I specifically provide guidance and instruction in how to create relationships that support both the individual’s self-esteem and relationship intimacy and vulnerability

.   I see myself as a partner with you, as opposed to an expert.  I am committed to sharing with you the truth (as I see it) regarding whatever situation you are in.  I have coached individuals who have  addressed life changes, self-esteem issues, post relationship recovery, parents (including parents of Special Needs children) who wanted to enjoy their children more and find effective parenting strategies, and couples wanting more out of their relationship, including couples on the brink of separation or divorce. If a couple or individual has a substance abuse issue or psychiatric condition that is not being treated, I will refer the individual or couple to a therapist. Before you choose a coach or therapist, I think it is very important to find out what approach they will use.  I spent years with therapists, who spent sessions taking my history and provided little real life traction for change.  I don’t believe in “forever” therapy.

I became a coach to be a change agent for the people I serve. I apply Relational Life Skills to my own life every single day. My own marriage was transformed by the work of Terry Real. I know what is feels like to be disconnected, alone and afraid to change.  My life, relationship with my husband and children are thriving and a constant source of joy for me. Oh, did I mention that I have an adult daughter with autism? Yes, it is possible to lead a happy, fulfilling life as a parent of a child with special needs. I have learned that the unpredictable nature of life will eventually throw every individual an unanticipated curve ball. I am here to help you learn the skills to live the life you want to experience. If you are ready to do the work, I may be the right coach for you. I coach in person, or through Skype or FaceTime.

Contact me for a free short consultation to see if we would be a good match working together.

Wishing you the happy life you were intended to lead,

Pat
